Unfortunately they left a few DX 9 files out so Direct X needs updating for those. OK - First of all Win7 has all versions of Direct X 9, 10 and 11. I wondered whether anybody has either come across the same problem or knows a solution? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated and sorry for the long-**** question! Now when i load the directx wizard these executables no longer load but I am faced with the same issue of exes eat up your memory usage so, thinking that this was the problem, I went into services.msc and disabled the WMP.exe. The process that I am trying to run is called 'dxsetup.exe', if I manage toĬlose this then the WMP executables also close.

On the task manager, a process called 'wmpnscfg.exe' (Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service Configuration) runs 4-5 times in the processed tab whilst the system is hanging. This time, though, when i try to run the directx wizard, keeping an eye all the while I tried to manually download directx and would you believe it - the same thing happens. Seeing as both times it froze at the directx install, I figured it had to be that. Incredibly slow with constant system hangs even after reboot, despite nothing being ran on the task manager and with a CPU usage of 1-2% (before and after the reboot, both the RAM and CPU was barely used at all.)

I managed to open up task manager and close the install wizard (which took about half an hour). The same page came up 'installing directx' and the sysytem froze like before. Now a couple of days ago I bought Crysis 2 and tried to install it. Thought nothing of it and deleted the download file - no big deal. I restarted my computer, tried again and had the same issue. Time the mouse would move but show a 'Not responding' message in the installation box. I tried to open up task manager and the computer was unresponsive. I came back and it was still displaying the same install (with no error message). I left the computer for a couple of hours thinking it would just get through it whilst I went out. System freeze whilst displaying the 'installing directx' installation page. A couple of months back I downloaded World of Tanks (not for my personal use) and upon installation it caused a complete So I've experienced this a couple of times and I've only just been able to narrow down the cause enough to submit a question on it.
